Seswaa is Botswana’s national dish and is a result of beef that has been cooked beyond well done. Three basic ingredients are needed for this unique dish namely; pulled beef, salt, and water. Interestingly, this dish is present within Ndebele Culture (Zimbabwe) and is known as Swayi. The adaptation of Seswaa could have occurred when King Mzilikazi and his entourage passed through present-day Rustenburg and encountered the Tswana people around the year 1827. Famously, Botswana is a big exporter of beef.
