About Us
Magriza is slang for uGogo (Grandmother in isiNdebele) and the name of the brand is derived from Prince’s inspiration towards food, culture and travelling; His maternal grandmother. The focus of the brand is to document and highlight the uniqueness of African Food, African Culture and African Traditions. Based in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe the main belief encapsulating the show is that Africans need to take a proactive role in documenting their own history, heritage and stories. Currently being shown on YouTube, the brand seeks to also sensitise, revive and motivate people to travel and get to experience the beauty of Africa.
The brand subscribes to four important values; Ubuntu, Respect, Creativity, and Minimalism. Ubuntu is seeing each person as unique and having a purpose to serve on this earth, Respect lies in honouring and appreciating the diverse cultures within our continent, Creativity is in how we shoot our videos and Minimalism lies in our belief of LESS is always MORE.
Prince, Thembani, Thamsanqa, and Ishmael are passionate filmmakers working with other creatives who also want to aid in documenting this rich history. Prince is also a passionate cook and hopes to inspire people to change their perception of African Food and see it as a daily way of eating.
