The year 2023 marks the 155th anniversary of the passing of King Mzilikazi, who founded the Mthwakazi Kingdom in present-day Zimbabwe. The King was born in 1790 (exact date not known) and passed on the 9th of September 1868. This documentary shows the commemorations that were held at Mhlahlandlela (King Mzilikazi’s last royal capital) on the 9th of September 2023. We spoke to culturalist and historian Albert Nyathi, Amabutho KaMzilikazi representatives, Chef Makhumalo, and a representative from the royal house of the Zulu Kingdom (Mntwanugcina Zulu).
